Ava sat on a pony for the first time at age 3 and was glued to horses ever since. She was born in London, England but grew up in Topanga, California where she began taking lessons at age 6. Her first trainers were April Atwell, Angelia Grove, and Mette Rosencrantz. She started showing at age 9 on a gentle black gelding named Black Gold of whom she showed at introductory level scoring A 70% at her very first show. From then on she showed on the schooling horses that she was riding at the time. She then got her first horse D’Amico who she began showing at training and first level with until he very sadly passed away from a colic in 2014. Later on her next partner would be a 6 year old Lusitano mare named Makenna Kai who she showed from training level to second level under her coach April Atwell. During her time with Makenna Kai she also got to clinic with Kathleen Raine. This had been an extraordinary begin to her dressage career at such a young age. However, her determination fired her to grow into something much bigger, having Olympic dreams. In 2015 she sold Makenna Kai to move on to her Juniors horse, Fürst Von Der Heide. She successfully competed him at 3rd level scoring consistently in the high 60’s and the FEI Jr tests. In 2017 Ava made the region 7 Junior team and competed at NAYC in Saugerties, NY where she placed 8th individually and helped with the team gold medal. Ava then went on to train with Sabine Schut-Kery and acquired her next horse 6y/o Sir Fürstenhanz (Sir Donnerhall x Fürst Heinreich). She continued her training with Hanz moving up the levels while completing high school. In 2020 Ava began a working student position with Sabine and moved with her to Toyon farm. She then began studying kinesiology at Sacramento State University and therefore had to move closer to school. She then took on an assistant trainer position for Christiane Noelting while being a full time student. This was a position that Ava learned an immense amount from and was there for 3 years. In summer of 2023 Ava was presented with the opportunity to work as an assistant rider for Jennifer Williams at Summervale Premier Dressage. This is her current position and works with sales and client horses daily as well as training and competing on Hanz.
